McGlynn’s Strike Lifts Houston Past LAFC
Houston claimed a hard-earned 1–0 win over LAFC at Shell Energy Stadium in a match defined by discipline, patience, and one decisive moment. After a tight first half with limited openings on both sides, the Dynamo finally broke through early in the second half. In the 58th minute, Jack McGlynn found space at the top of the box and curled a clean finish inside the far post, giving Houston the lead and sparking the crowd into life.
From that point on, the Dynamo shifted into a controlled, organized approach, forcing LAFC to chase the game. The visitors pushed numbers forward and created pressure in the final stages, but Houston’s back line stayed composed, clearing danger and winning key duels as the minutes ticked away. Blake Gillingham delivered the biggest moments late, stepping up with sharp saves to protect the clean sheet.
When the final whistle came, Houston’s lone goal stood as the difference — a strong early-season showing marked by effort, structure, and a moment of quality in front of goal.
