A Full House for Son Heung-min in Houston
From the moment gates opened at Shell Energy Stadium, it felt different. The crowd was already building early, and a lot of it had to do with Son Heung-min being in town.
You could see it everywhere — Korean flags, Son jerseys, groups pulling up just to watch him play. Every time he touched the ball, the reaction was instant. Pure excitement from people who came to see him.
The goal never came but the anticipation was felt through-out the match
There were a couple moments where it felt like it might — the kind where the crowd leans forward at the same time — but it never fully opened up for him. Still, that didn’t really take away from the night. Houston responded.
It wasn’t just Dynamo fans or LAFC fans. It was a mix. Different people, different reasons for being there, all packed into one stadium. It felt closer to an event than a regular match.
On the field, LAFC handled it. Took their chances, stayed in control, and left with the result against a 9-man Houston Dynamo.
But around it, the night felt bigger than that.
With the World Cup getting closer, this is the kind of night that stands out — a city filling up for the game, for a player, for the moment.
LAFC take the three points.
Houston shows what it can look like when everyone shows up.
